This is how (bad things happen)

With baited breath
             we watch and wait
We watch as the world turns
             and changes around us
We wait and do nothing
             we watch and shake our heads
We just wait to see what happens
            letting it all pass us by
We exhale
             letting out the collective sigh
We wonder why
             bad things happen to good people as
We watch and wait
              and still do nothing
Waiting for someone else
              to change the world
Watching for someone else
              to stand up and make a difference
Because what can we alone achieve?
              so we watch and wait
